Preparing and Supporting the family of a dying patient and bereavement counselling.
The SAOSWF will host a CPD meeting on 8 May with a presentation by Dr Janet Stanford of Knysna and Sedgefield Hospice. She is a medical practitioner and a member of PalPrac.
Dr Stanford will provide a description of the home-based care model of palliative care as practiced at Knysna Sedgefield Hospice starting from patient referral to bereavement support. It will also include identifying how goals of care are discussed with patient and family, the concept of total pain and pain management and challenges that are experienced by patients and family
